Flowers and Deities Patch 8.19

August 19 patch: trait rename, blessing rework, and decay mechanics.

Last updated:

Patch 8.19

Patch 8.19 arrived on 19 August 2026, five days after launch, addressing balance feedback and quality-of-life issues from the first full week of live play. The headline changes are a trait rename, a blessing rework, and a new decay mechanic for Blood Feast attributes.

This page covers what changed and what it means for active runs. For launch content, read Launch Notes. For the day-one hotfix, read Patch 8.15. For the first balance pass, read Patch 8.16-3.

Trait rename: Spirit Offering to Culinary Delights

The trait formerly known as Spirit Offering was renamed to Culinary Delights. This is a name change only. The mechanical function remains the same. If a guide or wiki page mentions Spirit Offering, treat it as Culinary Delights in 8.19 and later.

This rename affects tooltips, blessing text, and any in-game documentation that referenced the old name. Your encyclopedia should now display Culinary Delights where Spirit Offering previously appeared.

Voracious Feast blessing rework

The Voracious Feast blessing received a significant rework. It can now grant Slave units the Culinary Delights trait. This opens a new interaction between Slave Hunting captures and the blessing system that did not exist before 8.19.

If you are running a Flayed build with captured enemies, this change makes Voracious Feast more attractive as a mid-run blessing pick. The blessing now synergizes with the 1.0 Slave Hunting feature added at launch.

Blood Feast attribute decay

Attributes gained from Blood Feast now decay by 1 point per second, except for attributes granted by Culinary Delights. This is a meaningful change for Flayed Lord builds that relied on stacking Blood Feast bonuses for extended fights.

The practical effect: Blood Feast is now better suited for burst windows than sustained attrition. If you were timing Blood Feast pushes for long series, re-evaluate the timing. The exception for Culinary Delights means the new trait rename has indirect value for builds that take Voracious Feast.

Temporary attribute increase

Patch 8.19 significantly increased temporary attribute values from an unspecified source. The patch note mentions a “temp” increase but does not specify the source or magnitude. This may refer to blessing-granted buffs or consumable items. Check the in-game encyclopedia for current values if a buff felt stronger or weaker than expected.

Bug fixes

Resolved compatibility issues with old save files from the demo era and Next Fest playtest. If you attempted to load a pre-1.0 save, this patch addresses the crash that occurred. Note that demo saves remain incompatible with 1.0; this fix applies to saves from later demo builds.

What this means for your run

Patch 8.19 changes mid-run strategy for Flayed builds and any run that picked Voracious Feast. The attribute decay on Blood Feast is a meaningful balance shift. If you are in an active campaign, the new values apply immediately; you do not need to start a new profile for this patch.

The Blessings page will be updated to reflect these changes. The How Blood Works page covers blood economy rules that underpin Blood Feast decisions.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers drawn from the current Steam build.

What is the difference between Spirit Offering and Culinary Delights?

Only the name changed. Spirit Offering was renamed to Culinary Delights in patch 8.19. The mechanical function is identical.

How does Voracious Feast work with Slave units now?

Patch 8.19 reworked Voracious Feast so it can grant Slave units the Culinary Delights trait. This creates a synergy between captured enemies and this blessing that did not exist before.

What does Blood Feast attribute decay mean for my Flayed build?

Attributes gained from Blood Feast now decay by 1 point per second, except those from Culinary Delights. This makes Blood Feast better for burst windows than sustained stacking. Re-evaluate timing if you relied on long attritional fights.

Can I load my demo save with patch 8.19?

No. Demo saves remain incompatible with the 1.0 release. Patch 8.19 fixed compatibility for saves from later demo builds, but not the original June playtest saves.

Should I start a new profile after 8.19?

No. Unlike the launch save incompatibility, 8.19 applies to active profiles immediately. You do not need to restart your campaign.
