Status Effects in Flowers and Deities

Poison, stun, morale, and the keywords that decide a dry arena.

Status Effects

The Steam page advertises 50+ status effects. That is a store sentence, not a table we are going to fake. This page covers the statuses Chill Winter Studio named in public notes, plus the reading habit that keeps you from inventing the rest. Right-click the encyclopedia. If this wiki and the tooltip disagree, the tooltip wins.

Combat still starts on How to Play. Blood spends that apply or cleanse statuses sit on How Blood Works. Item modifiers that push poison, dodge, or Blood Curse live on Magic Items.

Poison, burn, and stack caps

Launch notes raised maximum Poison stacks from 5 to 8. That is the one number we will defend without a screenshot. A Flayed or poison-amulet plan that stopped at five in the demo now has three more ticks to work with. Do not assume every DoT shares that cap. Burn was reworked in the 0.8.1 demo pass: more damage, shorter duration. If a later tooltip moved again, believe the book in your Settings panel.

Poison amulets and Deadly Poison values also moved during the demo year. We will not reprint June digits as 1.0 gospel. Use the encyclopedia, then decide whether a starter build that leans on wounds still wants the extra poison items or would rather buy Reach.

Stun, the HP resist, and why big units laugh

Next Fest rewrote Stun. The old rule shaved a second off duration for every 20 HP. The new rule gives the defender a resist chance of HP / 4% when a stun triggers, and the duration became 3 seconds instead of 5. A high-HP wall is now a stun filter, not a stunned statue. Sling and stun-chance modifiers still exist; they just lose more often into Iron Bulwark style fronts.

If your plan is “stun the boss and delete the backline,” test it in a Custom Battle leftover or the first even matchup, not on the hidden arena. Positioning matters more than a 3-second lock if the stun never lands.

Morale, routs, and the 90% lie

Morale is the hidden timer on a column. Demo notes added more morale modifiers and let some heals and buffs raise it. A later pass changed “full morale” conditions to “morale above 90%.” That is why a blessing that says it needs a confident army can fail while the bar still looks green. Check the number, not the color.

Routs lose fights you thought you had won. Encouragement origins, healing faiths such as Quetzalcoatl, and support spells that also tick morale are the clean answer. Bleeding a frontline to 10% HP to feed the blood pool can win the puddle and lose the series. How Blood Works is the page for that trade.

Blood Curse, Desecrated Weapon, Slave, dodge

Demo Mac notes reworked Blood Curse items and added dodge modifiers. Launch notes gave advanced Undead a degree of Desecrated Weapon and lower-tier Undead the Slave trait. Slave Hunting captures after certain battles; that is recruiting, so the how-to is How to Recruit. Do not confuse the Slave trait on a cheap undead with a captured living unit you just bagged.

Dodge tribes want light armor and the dodge modifiers, not a random plate from the Forge. If the shop keeps offering stun slings to a dodge origin, skip them. Your job is not to collect every status. Your job is to make two statuses matter.

How to read a new keyword

  1. Right-click. 2. Read the stack cap and the cleanse. 3. Ask whether your faith already applies it. 4. Only then spend gold. The Forge will happily enchant a weapon with a status you cannot stack.

We will not publish a 50-row fan table of invented names. When Steam news names another status the way it named Poison 8 and Stun 3s, this page grows. Until then, the encyclopedia and the blessings list are the legal text.

If a YouTuber’s June overlay still shows a 5-stack poison cap, they have not updated the video. Bookmark Launch Notes and this page instead of the overlay.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers drawn from the current Steam build.

What is the poison stack cap in Flowers and Deities 1.0?

Launch notes raised maximum Poison stacks from 5 to 8. Confirm other DoT caps in the encyclopedia.

How does stun work after the Next Fest rewrite?

On trigger, the defender can resist based on HP / 4%. Duration is 3 seconds. High-HP units shrug more stuns.

Why did my morale blessing fail with a green bar?

Some effects need morale above 90%, not “looks full.” Read the number in the encyclopedia.

Where do Blood Curse and dodge items live?

On Magic Items and the Forge. This page explains the keywords; those pages explain the slots.
