Next Fest Notes

Steam Next Fest carried a major Flowers and Deities demo update before the 14 August 2026 launch. The studio post is still worth reading because it named systems players still search: events, Custom Battle, redesigned blessings, Reach, Stun, and a pile of unit tweaks. It is also dangerous, because launch notes and patch 8.15 moved the live numbers again. This page is the archive with warning labels.

If you want the current game, start at Launch Notes and Getting Started. If you want to know why an old video mentions Temple Greatbow or a 5-second stun, stay here.

What the Next Fest demo unlocked

The post said the full event system came online with around 100+ events. Those events were meant to shape campaign decisions, rewards, and the strange stories under the gods. 1.0 rebuilt the campaign into a 6×5 grid and improved the shop and Forge again. Treat “100+ events” as a demo-era count, not a promise that every June event still fires on the same tile.

Custom Battle mode arrived so you could test units and watch armies clash. Steam still lists the released game as single-player. Custom Battle was a sandbox, not matchmaking. Difficulty and Saves repeats that so nobody buys a ladder that does not exist.

All 80 blessings were “fully redesigned” for clearer build directions. The 1.0 launch then said most blessings were rebalanced again. Read Blessings for how to pick in the live build. Use this paragraph only to understand why a June overlay looks nothing like your current idol screen.

Forging and reforging improved. New units included Temple Greatbow, Shielded Temple Warrior, and more advanced Corn Spirits. Noble tweaks named Fallen Noble, Temple Noble, and Feathered Noble with specific squad and cost changes. Those digits were demo balance. Confirm 1.0 values in the encyclopedia.

Mechanic rewrites that still matter as words

Reach was reworked so it maps to attack range. That sentence is still the reason Positioning talks about weapon length instead of a hidden stat. Morale gained more modifiers; some heals also raise it. Stun changed from “minus 1s per 20 HP” to a resist chance of HP / 4% and a 3-second lock. Status Effects is the live reading of those rules.

Magic items: 60+ updated, 30+ new modifiers. Launch later said 20+ magic items were fully updated and all artifacts unlocked. Both posts can be true as history. Neither is a shopping list. Use Magic Items.

What 1.0 made obsolete

Demo saves do not open. Poison cap is 8, not whatever a Next Fest tooltip showed. Ranged packs got smaller and slower at launch. Slave Hunting, Feather Ornaments, achievements, and the 6×5 grid did not exist in this post. If a creator still titles a video “Next Fest complete guide,” watch it as archaeology.

The public playtest (12–19 June) sat just before this demo. The official playtest trailer is the clip on our review. The IGN open-beta trailer is the clip on Getting Started. Neither is a 1.0 patch note.

How this wiki will treat old news

We keep this page because players search “Next Fest,” “Custom Battle,” and “100 events.” We will not merge it into 8.15. We will not pretend June digits are current. When a new Steam news post ships, it gets its own child page or a revision of 8.15. This archive stays dated.

If you are converting a demo habit, the practical pages are Difficulty and Saves, Launch Notes, and the campaign tracker. Leave the festival post in the museum.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers drawn from the current Steam build.

Is the Next Fest demo the same as Flowers and Deities 1.0?

No. 1.0 launched 14 August 2026 with a 6×5 campaign, Slave Hunting, and disabled demo saves. This page is June history.

Does Custom Battle mean multiplayer?

No. It was a sandbox for testing armies. Steam lists single-player only.

Are the Next Fest blessing and stun numbers still live?

The words still help. Live numbers come from launch notes, patch 8.15, and the encyclopedia.

Where is the newest official patch?

Patch 8.15 on 15 August 2026. This Next Fest post is older on purpose.
